We are asking interested parties to submit qualifications to work with us on innovative housing research. Qualified applicants will be invited to an interview and collaboratively develop a budget and refine deliverables.
IslamicFamily, a multi-award-winning Treaty 6–based social change organization headquartered in Edmonton, is advancing a series of applied research initiatives to transform how affordable housing is designed, delivered, and sustained.
These projects build on the principles of the Halal Housing Lab—an approach that integrates sustainability, cultural and family-centered design, halal finance, and affordability. Our goal is to make housing systems more inclusive, resilient, and collaborative—especially for extended and multigenerational families often underserved by conventional models.
Successful proponents will demonstrate the ability to work across diverse systems—social, technical, and financial—and to translate complex research into clear, implementable strategies that advance equity, efficiency, and long-term sustainability in Edmonton’s housing ecosystem.
